Thin Lizzy

about

the collection

One of the great wave of hard rock bands that followed in the footsteps of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy were at the forefront of those bands who employed two lead guitarists, Scott Gorham being joined by the likes of Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Snowy White and John Sykes across their career. But it was the personality of their charismatic lead singer and bass player Phil Lynott that really put Thin Lizzy in the first division of the great rock acts of the 1970s and ‘80s, his voice and delivery playing a huge part in putting Thin Lizzy into the pop charts and onto Top of the Pops, territory that few of their contemporaries could follow them into. Breaking out of Ireland with their folk influenced hit single ‘Whiskey In The Jar’, recorded as a trio, it was as a hard rock band with his like ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ and ‘Waiting For An Alibi’ that they really came to the fore. Backstage Pass captures Thin Lizzy’s career from start to finish.
