Status Quo

about

the collection

The world’s greatest purveyors of heads down, no-nonsense boogie, Status Quo have been a Britsh institution for nearly 60 years, from the psychedelic days of ‘Pictures Of Matchstick Men’ to the anthemic ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ with which they opened the Live Aid concert in 1985. The ‘classic’ line up of Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan were rarely out of the albums or singles charts through much of the 1970s after refining their trademark style and although both Coghlan and then Lancaster left in the early ‘80s, frontmen Rossi and Parfitt picked up the band once again later in the decade and continued to record and play to sell-out crowds until Parfitt’s passing in 2016, Rossi continuing the band thereafter. Backstage Pass covers Quo’s whole career, from the studio to the stage, from Top of the Pops to the ‘farewell show’ at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1984, from frilly shirts to double denim.
