Genesis

about

the collection

Coming to prominence as kings of the progressive rock movement in the 1970s that also spawned the likes of Pink Floyd, Yes and Jethro Tull, Genesis outstripped them all, going on to have enormous commercial as well as critical success in the 1980s and early 1990s, their drummer Phil Collins having replaced Peter Gabriel as lead singer. The Backstage Pass collection begins with a photo shoot from 1975 just after Gabriel’s departure had been announced, and includes live photographs from the 1976 and 1977 tours when the band still included Steve Hackett on guitar. He left in 1977, and then there were three, as seen in our behind the scenes images from recording the ‘Duke’ album in 1980, appearing on Top of the Pops and making the ‘Mama’ and ‘Illegal Alien’ promo videos in 1983, climaxing with concert photos from the world straddling ‘Invisible Touch’ tour in 1986/87 and the return for ‘We Can’t Dance’ in 1992.
