Bee Gees

about

the collection

Formed by the Gibb brothers, the Bee Gees enjoyed one of the most extraordinary careers in popular music. Moving from Manchester to Australia in the late ‘50s, they earned some initial success there before returning to the UK in 1967 and earing international fame with huge hit singles such as ‘Massachusetts’ and ‘New York Mining Disaster 1941’. After slipping out of the limelight for a time, they returned with a bang in 1975, Barry’s falsetto voice becoming a new trademark as they took on disco and reinvigorated their sound. Providing many of the songs for ‘Saturday Night Fever’, the band enjoyed an even more successful spell in their career, which included teaming up with Peter Frampton for the ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ movie. After another lull, there was yet another return to the top in the late 1980s with ‘You Win Again’. Each of these eras of the Bee Gees is captured in the Backstage Pass collection.
