Consisting of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, ABBA took their name from the initial letters of its members and after enjoying success in their native Sweden, made the leap to international fame when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their song, ‘Waterloo’. For the next eight years until the band broke up, they were as big as any pop group in the world, enjoying success right across the globe with a string of number one singles and albums. Made up of two married couple, Benny and Frida and Björn and Agnetha, with Benny and Björn as the songwriting hub of the group, their songs weren’t simply insanely memorable, they charted the ups and downs of their relationships. The Backstage Pass collection of photographs captures ABBA right across their imperial phase, from live performance to press conferences to recording in their state of the art Stockholm studios, also used by Led Zeppelin and Genesis.
